In an innovative setup, I deployed two distinct AI agents on a budget-friendly $7/month VPS. The public-facing agent, named nullclaw, is a compact 678 KB Zig binary that operates using approximately 1 MB of RAM, connected to an Ergo IRC server. Users can interact with it through a gamja web client seamlessly integrated into my website. On the other hand, the private agent, ironclaw, manages email and scheduling tasks, accessible solely via Tailscale and Google's A2A protocol. The system utilizes tiered inference with Haiku 4.5 for quick conversations and Sonnet 4.6 for tool usage, ensuring efficiency at a maximum cost of just $2 per day. This setup exemplifies an affordable yet powerful way to leverage AI technology.
